    Default Using Walking Hotspot

Has anyone installed Walking Hotspot on the X7510 and did it work? I purchased it from Handango with the understanding it would work with the X7510. It installed just fine but, when I attempted to start it I ran into problems. I am using it on AT&T and have an unlimited data plan. When I click on start it first makes the connection to MEdia Net HSDPA. After that the small WiFi icon comes up and shows it trying to connect. At this point I get I get a pop error message from Com Manager on the 7510 saying "Cannot find any access point". At this point it will never connect. I have spoken at length to the software developers and they haven't provided anything useful. They say they think it should work but have never actually tried it on a 7510. I have seen references on the Web to its being successfully used on a 7501 which is why I am wondering if anyone has used it on a 7510. I installed it on the 7510's flash drive rather than main memory but I don't see why this would cause problems. I know I can use internet sharing via USB and Bluetooth but I would also have Walking Hotspot available as well. Any suggestions would be welcome at this point.

I couldn't tell you about Walking Hotspot as I have never tried it {I also dont have an x7510}. I have tried a couple WiFi Router programs & the best I've found is WMWiFiRouter. I tried a couple others & had trouble getting them to work, but never had a problem with WMWiFiRouter. You can read more about it at their website: http://global.wmwifirouter.com/consumer/. You can even download a trial version that you can test before actually shelling out a pence. I recommend trial versions for all software. Every piece of software that exists has a competetive program. We discussed a few different router progs in another thread a while back.

As concerns the Handango Walking Hotspot: I would demand a refund. I read on their site that they have issued refunds to users that could not get the software to work with their device.

One thing that confuses me tho. Why are you tring to find the network on the device? The device is the one transmitting the network, & the "Access point" woud not appear on it. Have you tried accessing it from your laptop after you activated the router function? Also {Not sure about Handango}, many of the router progs require that it be an Ad-Hoc network. Ad-Hocs do not usually show up as an access point, because it is a comp-to-comp network. Once the two comps have established contact, then your x7510 will 'Share' it's Inet connection with the comps that connect to it. Try activating the router & using your PC; check for all connections {Not just Access points}.

I am not trying to find a network on the device. With the phone turned on, the way Walking Hotspot works is that it will first will cause the phone to connect to AT&T MEdia Net. Then it shows the tiny WiFi icon next to the MEdia Net signal icon in the upper right corner of the screen which I am told is when it is trying to establish an Ad-Hoc network with Media Net. The Walking Hotspot tech support guy thinks the software keeps looking for access points because the X7510 doesn't support Ad-Hoc networks which I believe is incorrect. Since it doesn't find any access points it up pops the error message.

I have tried turning on my old X7501 and using its WiFi capability to connect to Walking Hotspot on my X7510. It sees the X7510 as a hotspot and connects to the hotspot just fine. However, if I try to go to a web site with the X7501 it is unable to connect to the web site. Personally I think it is a software settings glitch on my particular X7510. I think for some reason my device has some software bugs that other 7510's don't have. I spent three months first with HTC tech support and then the HTC repair center just trying to get it to connect to AT&T. Turned out the connection wizard made all the necessary settings except one, connection frequency which it left set incorrectly. Apparently all the other X7510's didn't have such a glitch. I know the connection wizard on my X7501 worked perfectly from day one. The reason I am searching for someone who has installed Walking Hotspot on a X7510 is that, if it works on other X7510's it means I again have a unique problem with mine. I know Walking Hotspot has been successfully installed on the X7501 with no problem as I have found references on other forums. I am thinking of trying to load Walking Hotspot on my old X7501 to see if it will work.

What I will probably resort to if I can't make any more progress on the X7510 is to get my money back and try someone elses software.

Please do try it on your 7501. If it doesn't work with it, then it may be a problem on ATTs end. I still don't understand why the software is trying to make an Ad-Hoc connection with MediaNet. Ad-Hoc is a device to device connection, & should have nothing to do with the internet connection. As I stated, I use WMWiFiRouter; when you first start it up it activate the device as an Ad-Hoc system. It establishes it's Inet connection thru my {Continuosly active} network connection, & then transmits thru the Ad-Hoc system.
Have you ever been able to establish an Ad-Hoc network with the device {without using Walking Hotspot}? Try creating an Ad-Hoc connection on the device & see if you can connect to it with your PC. If you can't then you may need to install the proper drivers.

Hopefully someone on here has a 7510 & has tried this.
