Thanks for this!
I tried this but when I changed to GSM only, I lost all bars of reception. I switched to WCDMA only and seem to be receiving all texts on time now.
I'm in Australia, not sure if that makes a difference to which method works. Either way, seems to be working fine now. Thanks for your help - this has been annoying me for ages!

I shouldn't expect much from a repair or any suggestions here, unless you're happy with no internet should you turn it to GSM. I use one at Newcastle University for both work and home use, and have had the incredible S for 3 months. It has been returned 4 times, but not once will they return it to the last system which worked (2.3.0 I think), and will not update the disfunctional update.
On the last return they offered a new phone, but insisted on the same model. I discussed the logic of this being idiotic, but they would still rather see a new incredible S be wasted only to be returned, rather than anything which worked - even with me offering to pay the difference. I do at last have a phone with an earpiece with vaguely acceptable quality, but still the same software problem.
The worst phone and company I could imagine. It is just an unusable product. receiving a text such as "Your visitor is in reception" 2 hours later is just unacceptable.

one ring only, then "1 missed call"
Hi there, I just called my provider's (Optus) technical support due to a few problems: My HTC Incredible S rings only ONCE and before I can even answer, I get the message "1 missed call" - seems Optus has no clue what's causing this!!!
The other problem might be fixed after following all steps described earlier in this forum (receiving texts the next day!) and finally the reception on this phone is very, very bad. I used my old phone (Nokia) in the same areas and never had a problem, but since I use the HTC this became unbearable! Any suggestions for my main prob, the once ring only?
