Default Can't Get into 'My Profile' on Desire S

    Hi

    Can anyone help please?

Have set up all my contacts on new Desire S through Google contacts but have come to set up my own profile in contacts and am having problems :

    Open people
    In 'All' Tap 'Me'
Get screen which says 'Loading....' which never completes
if I then tap menu at the bottom then 'Edit' I get to a screen to put name in but can't get a keyboard to input anything !!!!

    Any ideas folks please???

I appreciate any help you can offer please!

    Cheers

Same here. Trying to add my name to 'me' from the contact list, or edit it manually, just leaves it waiting. Left it for hours today... (hey, worth a shot...)

Tried a number of times over the last couple of months since I bought it, and it often gives me a 'report problem to HTC, People has a problem', which I do. No response from HTC.

For the record, same prior to latest software/kernel update a couple of days ago, and since.

Same from new, so no. No way going to set it back to factory defaults, and yes, done a soft reset a few times.....

Only other prob I've had is when I did latest update. Lost Favourite contacts. Dragged it off, popped it back in, sorted.

I ended up biting the bullet and doing a full factory reset on it.

The good news was that it did sort out the problem.

full factory reset?... thats worse than a "Micorosft reboot" to get things fixed. I thought Android was smarter :-( and I don't wanna go that way.
There should be a smarter way to fix this. Is HTC engineering reading this or are we on our own here....

HELP pls fix this silly error ! Seems lika a bug to me.

I emailed HTC Support who gave me a couple of options which didn't resolve it so went with their final option - hard reset !!

    It went something like .....

First option (DIDN'T SOLVE PROBLEM): In 'People' within 'Manage Applications' ... 'Clear Cache' then 'Force Stop' followed by a soft reset which was with phone switched on remove battery for 10 secs put back in and switch phone on again.

Second Option (DIDN'T SOLVE PROBLEM): because all my contacts were 'Google Contacts' (i.e. NOT 'Phone Contacts') it was suggested to change all to 'Phone Contacts' and try to access 'My Profile'
then, in 'People' application 'Export to SD card' then 'Google' and try 'My Profile'

Third Option (SOLVED PROBLEM WITH EXPECTED LOSS OF SETTINGS etc): Hard reset

HTC support gave me the exact same steps
There must be a smarter way to fix this silly issue without wiping the phone. I'll see if I can find an answere elsewhere ( XDA developers )

    Thanks !
