Default Facebook for HTC Sense disappeared & People not syncing properly anymore

Hi, I recently noticed about 2 weeks ago or so that my Facebook for HTC app icon has disappeared, as has the widget. I wasn't that fussed about it because I also use Facebook for Android and when that is being useless (90% of the time) I just log into the web version on the browser. However I noticed today that my contacts list in the People app are no longer syncing their Facebook data since Facebook for HTC Sense disappeared from my phone, which I think is a shame as I used to like that. Does anyone know how to fix it? I still have Facebook for HTC Sense listed under Accounts & Sync but can't get to the app any other way at all, and it seems I've lost some functionality with People because of it. Has anyone else noticed this and any other "side effects" too? Does anyone know how to get Facebook for HTC Sense BACK? I was wondering if it disappeared after having installed an update to Facebook Android. Any ideas at all?

I had a quick gander at google and saw that it's not just my phone (HTC Desire S) that has this problem but most HTC Androids so that's why I'm posting here. Also people seem to think that Friendstream has silently taken over from Facebook for HTC Sense which I think is a real shame because I find Friendstream too much extra bother to use and it doesn't sync my Facebook contacts or up to date information on there AT ALL.

Remove your Facebook account from sync and then add it again. That should fix the problem.

hi, i am new to Sense and am liking it. i was actually under the impression that Facebook and Twitter were only accessible thru Friend Stream, as i have never seen the individual FB and Twitter apps on my phone? i too noticed that the contacts integration does not show up in the People app, but it does with Go Contacts. i tried the above solution of removing and adding my Facebook account, but it didn't change anything.

i have also noticed that in Friend Stream, when you try and view a photo that someone posted on Facebook, the app immediately force closes. i am using the Mytouch 4g Slide, so i didn't know if that was a common bug in the app all across the board....

There appears to be problems with Friend Stream and Faceboook for HTC Sense since the latest software upgrade. I have not been able to log into either, the apps just "hang"

After i received the ICS update..i saw the change in the HTC Sense for Facebook.. It doesn't work.as well as it is not seen anywhere in the "share" function.. When you go to the "sync and accounts" section in the Settings Menu.. It is there to be seen.. Don't know whats wrong..with it..I am sure it should be a bug nothing more..!!

I had the same sort of problem. After the ICS software update to my Desire S I lost all my linked contacts and couldn't sync anybody in my people list with their facebook profile. Eventually the fix for me was to go to settings>accounts & sync then touch on the facebook account icon which opens up the options for that account. I noticed that the box marked 'Sync Contacts' was not checked. After checking the box and hitting the 'Sync now' button I opened up my people list and hey presto, all my contacts were linked to their respective facebook accounts once more. Not sure if this is the same issue as everyone else has but if so, give it a go!!!!
