Thread: Facebook contacts invade the Phonebook in HTC Desire Z

I am having a hard time managing my contacts on HTC Desire Z. While I like the feature of linking accounts to phone numbers when I so choose, the facebook application automatically spams my contact list (accessed by the Phone button) with facebook contacts I do not want displayed. That behavior is consistent regardless of what sync options I choose. Even when I choose "Don't sync anything" they still pop up there. HTC Global Support basically said there's no way to get rid of them besides a factory reset, and that any time I'd open the Facebook app, the contacts will get "polluted".

Therefore I turn to you - have you perchance figured out how to remedy this situation? I've read about more people with the same problem, so I am certainly not alone, but I've not yet encountered any solutions.

Perhaps another application from the Android Market designed for contact management/calling could do that? Please let me know if you have any knowledge of a possible solution.

Under accounts and sync turn off the Facebook contacts sync

Alternatively, go to People, open the menu and click the View eye icon, you can select only with phone number, and untick facebook, google and the rest. So the contacts are still sync'd so you can get their updates, but you don't have to plough through all your barely-friends from facebook to find you aunty's phone number. :-)

Also, untick the Only with phone number option - as your facebook friends who've left their phone number visible still sneak through. Just leave Sim and Phone ticked.
