Bought international unlocked Aria and need help!
Hello All!
I'm new to this so here goes. I wanted the Aria, but not branded AT&T (I just don't like branded phones since they usually have more limitations) so I bought an international unlocked version and it is for Thailand which is fine except that sometimes the different asian symbols pop up when texting or when handwriting to text and I'm not getting the Voice to Text feature that the US version has. I really want this feature!! So I called HTC and they said that version doesn't have it and the other languges in the phone cannot be removed. They also said that no other countries sell the Aria (I was hoping to buy the UK or Australia version which may have Voice to Text and the language issue would be resolved too) Hey, if an iPhone can be flashed with Android, certainly my Aria can be flashed with a language and Voice to Text fix right?? I'll even settle for flashing it with the AT&T software if I need to at this point.

uhm im not too sure if this is what you were looking for ... but theres an Original Ship ROM by AT&T ... make sure you consider carefully
HTC Mobile Phone Support - HTC Aria
or another solution maybe you can wait for the android 2.2 froyo firmware to come out.
then (im not sure about this but worth giving it a shot) you can download and install which will probably overwrite the language / voice activation problem .. but the thing is - HTC didnt release the Aria to the UK yet so theres no UK version of the software
my best advice. . . wait for a bit

I have installed the SmartKeyboard Pro, which provides another keyboard and additional languages for typing. That was really necessary (I write mostly in Dutch).
The Smartkeyboard Pro version of the keyboard is at least as good as the original, if not even better. It all works seamless. You can buy it in the Android Market. I think it is what you need - that asian Aria indeed has a lot of versions of English but not American or British. If the loaction of the phone is not clear and an app or site switches to a default location based on the phonetype, it thinks I'm in Vietnam :-)
