Default Can I remove HTC pre-installed apps

I got my lovely Desire HD. First Android phone and first HTC phone.

I have had few issues. I had the lagg issue that people have, but seems to have gone for now.

But I was wondering 2 things.

    1. My screen goes off after 5-10 seconds of not using, how do I extend this?

    2. Got loads of pre-installed apps, like soundhound, stocks etc. Can I remove these?

    Thanks

    Hi,

    1. The screen timeout can be extended under the display settings in the menu.

    2. Unfortunatly, the pre-installd apps cannot be removed as they a built into the firmware. They can be upgraded though for instance the Twitter app can be upgraded with the one from the market, but if you try uninstall it, it will revert back to the pre-installed version and not actually remove it.

hi you can remove the apps if you are not aware already as i have managed yesterday its quite a long process and requires 3 programs to do it but well worth the end result as it also allows you to backup the apps to an sd card or even on your pc and then re-install if you accidently remove something that shares files.

i used uninstaller pro for root. app disappeared and does not ask for any updates. i checked by uninstalling the app to my pc. the file is an *apk* file so believe that is the whole program not just the shortcut if i am correct.
