HTC desire HD gps problems
I've had my desire hd since March and it's off for it's third trip to try and get the gps to work properly. It sometimes takes an hour to get a fix (clear sky), I've done several comparisons with the non hd desire and my HD is pathetic (even without case). Has anyone else had a similar issue?
thanks

have you tried third party apps like gpsfix and gps status to see what they report?. You should get a fix within 15 to 25 seconds not an hour. When you say your taking it on a trip, you mean in the car?. I dont know how good it is in normal saloon cars but in my cab it works fine,no solid roof. Gpsfix helps your phone to lock on a lot faster, failing that you will have to contact htc they will pick it up and repair it.

I have found some apps take ages to get a fix and others are really quick, it also depends when you're out and about if you have data turned on, that way assisted GPS works to speed up the fix. I use Co Pilot live Sat Nav in the car and it always gets a fix very quick but I also use Run Keeper for tracking running, Cycling, walking etc and that can take a good 5 mins sometimes to get a fix, google maps also takes a long time sometimes. Must admit it's not the most impressive GPS I've come across.

I'm also experiencing similar GPS problems. Sometimes I'll never get a fix on a journey of around an hour. I've also had it get a fix and then totally lose it ten minutes later. I have data on, GPS Test and GPS Status to test the signal. Generally I get a poor signal but often I can see zero satellites.

I have a similar issue but it only occurred after the sense 3.0 update. I had a look at the XDA vid but I must admit I am nervous poking around in the phone to pop the flash cover out.
Wierdly Endomondo my running App seems to find satelittes OK but I can cover 150 miles in the car before it now finds a GPS fix... before the update it worked from the driveway.
If its a hardware issue why was it working OK until the update? Does any one else have any issues taht were not apparnt before the update?
