Thread: Desire HD blank sd card (external media in unknown state)

Hi,
I've had my Desire HD for around 9-10 months now, the phone has been fine until around a month and a half ago when the memory card decided to delete it's contents wiping all of my data. I put this down to a faulty memory card or a dodgy app downloaded (i only download from the app store so I doubt that) so went in search of another micro SD. I tried a brand new memory card bought a few days later to find that the phone stated it was blank and needed to be formatted, when the format button was pressed a short message came up as "external media in unknown state" and the phone then does nothing. I'm not sure if this is a common fault within this model or whether my phone is fried. The phone has been dropped on numerous occasions but this was a random occurrence one day, not caused after a drop.
I have tried to take it into my local orange store to find that "there was not a lot I could do, and they didn't know what to suggest" they were pretty hung up on the idea that because I dropped it, it was my fault and they wanted to know nothing more about it and sent me on my way. Basically all that I am asking is for a possible solution to fix this SD card problem, or some guidelines for repair or whether I will still be eligible to have a fix through warranty. Any feedback or similar scenarios people have had will be much appreciated. I miss my working phone!
