Default Push Mail problem on HTC Desire S with Android 2.3.5 + Sense 3.0

After updating to Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0 my Exchange Push Mail does not work anymore.
It asks me for my password which it does not seem to accept.

I have found on other forums that other people have the same problem.

The only fix sofar reported is to perform a Factory Reset.
I do not find this acceptable. Does anybody have any other solution to this problem?

    Thank you,
    rvaneynd

    Hi,
Welcome to my world... I'm pretty much disappointed with HTC and the device itself, as since they've issued this last update, it's been nothing but trouble. Here is a copy of the e-mail I sent to HTC (for which I'm not expecting a reply back):

Hi. I own a Vodafone Ireland branded HTC Desire S. This device is running its original ROM, has never been rooted, and the bootloader is locked. Until the Sense3.0 update, the device was very responsive, fast, reliable and stable, I had at that point absolutely no issues and was pretty much happy with all aspects of my €410 gadget. However, after the given update, things has changed drastically for the worst. Here is a summary of issues:

    - Broken ActiveSync support
Fails to sync reporting conflicts, doesn't sync changed items on the server side, or goes into an eternal sync loop that forces you to reboot the phone (sync icon on the top constantly blinking, non-stop)

    - Missing power menu
This seems to happen when you set a password for the credential storage. Don't know what the relation is, but removing that password restores the power menu (until you have to use the credential storage again)

    - Sluggish interface
The interface itself is WAY WAY less responsive and considerably sluggish (even after a reset, with nothing but stock apps installed and before configuring a google account). At this point, it is worth saying that the fancy 3D animations (which, don't know why, one cannot disable them) are not helping. The phone has become A LOT slower after the upgrade, A LOT slower...

    - Instability
I noticed as well 2 random reboots so far... Before the update, I did managed to get an update of almost 3 months

As I've already attempted to contact HTC and Vodafone about this issues, let me just say that they aren't the ones sorted with a reset. I'm an IT guy, I'm working with Android for years, I know my way around this, and the reported issues are way beyond the ones fixed with a reset (plus, a google search will show that a lot of other users in other parts of the world are also suffering from these new "features").

Can you give me a downgrade path, back to the previous version of Sense, or an update regarding the status of your investigation on this problem? I hope you understand that now I have a €410 toy that is not suited for the tasks I've purchased it for, and according to the high price tag, I would expect a solution and/or decent support on this matter.

    Thank you

Same problem here. Exchange is not working and Factory Reset is unaccaptable.

    Any solutions?

    Thanks!

    I have a related problem.

Since my phone was updated to 2.3.5/3.0 push email using the HTC email client syncing to an Exchange server (2010) is not work properly.

Push email is received to the device without problem and email read and deleted on device is properly reflected on the Exchange server.

However, email directly modified/deleted on the Exchange server is not always deleted from the device (the problem is intermittent), even after forcing a manual sync.

All aspects of push email worked properly before the 2.3.5/3.0 update.

(When the phone is set to manual synchronisation everything works without problem but of course that defeats the purpose of having push).

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Many others have reported similar problems in other forums.

HTC support's stock responses are (a) factory reset, which both does not solve the problem and causes great inconvenience and (b) blame the server side sw, which is simply ignorant buck-passing. These responses are disgraceful. Under no circumstances will I ever part with money for a HTC device in the future.

Same problem with my Desire S ... I get a "Please update your password" error.

Got the update to 2.3.5 and that's when the problems started ... :-( I had to delete the Exchange Account and re-install this before everything worked. Then I only got a few months of good operation until just before Christmas when the problem started.

I click to "update my password" and it asks for my PIN. I dutifully type this in to then only get stuck on the "Screen unlock security" page ... I've tried changing / updating all my passwords but nothing clears this problem.

It does appear that I'm far from the only person with this issue ... am just hoping that someone at HTC or on this forum can help since am getting extremely annoyed with it.

I USED to be quite a fan of HTC ... going off them a fair amount now!!!

    Hi

Since 2.35 I have the following issues

Calender in a sync loop every so often.
Read status of messages and other changes not reflected on device.

I have done factory reset but the problem returns.
If I delete and re-add the exchnage account it works for a short while but after a while messages that are marked read on exchnage are not mrked as read on the device.

The only thing I can think of is to downgrade firmware but I am told that is not possible.
I was just about to get this phone for 5 of our representatives but this problem doesnt seem to have a solution

Phoned HTC who say theyve never heard of the problem.

This thread tells a different story

Guys, I had the same problem. Please go Accounts & Sync and Check the Auto-sync (which is introduced in 2.3.5). By default, it is un-checked.

    Hope this helps you.

    Thanks.

Same thing here on the unread count

I was happily relying on this phone for my work email. It does not reliably update the unread count based on server side updates.

Very frustrating as it used to work so well. Even when I manually refresh it doesn't update read emails.

I deleted the account and set it up again. Got through a day and a half before it stopped staying in alignment.

Where is the best place to report the problem with this app to HTC.

Anyone recommend an alternative email client to use instead.

    Derek
