Default Desire stops syncing with Exchange

Strange problem. I have set up my Exchange sync OK, it's working OK for a couple of days. Then all of a sudden (no changes to the settings whatsoever) it stops syncing. If I go to the sync setup screen there's a generic error (Error while syncronizing or some such). Of course, you don't get any other indication unless you actually go there - you're left with the impression you just don't get new e-mails. There's an easy fix (or workaround more like it) - if I go to the credentials screen and just hit save, it's fixed! Until next time it happens. I've already contacted HTC Support about it, but any ideas?

I have exactly the same! worked for about 1 week, suddenly doesn't synchronise my e-mails, but calendar works fine. I have a dutch version, so i cannot find the credentials screen and just hit save. What do you mean by that?

It's where you enter your Exchange user name/password/domain name - just go there and hit save. Btw HTC replied essentially saying they don't know what's the problebm nor how I can debug it further (apart from disabling Mail / Calendar sync one at a time...)

I had exactly the same problem, but your workaround solved it. Seems every phone I have struggles with talking to Exchange...

FYI, I've called HTC Support again today as this issue pisses me off - I heavily rely on my business e-mail. They've confirmed it's now for 22 days with their development escalation team and promised to let me know once there is an update.

Hi all I have been struggling with this issue as well... your work round works fine - thanks very much. I found it occurred a lot if I powered off the phone overnight. I like to do this as I get business cals form overseas overnight, and also prefer to save the battery. I now go into airline mode overnight instead, and this has reduced the occurences. I hope that helps.

    Default Fixed?

Glad it helped - since upgrading to the latest firmware I haven't encountered the said problem - appears fixed.

Default Save doesn't work for me...

Hi, I have been experiencing the same issue with a brand new phone. The sync has been working fine and is working fine on the other two HTC Desire phones we have, but isn't working now on mine.

Looking in the Exchange ActiveSync settings, I can see that it says at the bottom "Sync protocol error." Last time this happened, the only solution I could find was to remove the account and re-create it. Then I had to re-link all the contacts.

    Firmware is 2.1-update1
    Software number 1.19.161.5

Has a more permanent solution been found?

I've had the same problem (among MANY others) w/my Dingleberry Curve ever since I've had the POS. Eagerly looking forward to the arrival of my EVO so I can test the Dingleberry's ability to handle a 12ga shotgun blast! I'll post video from my EVO.
Nice to know I'll be able to resolve the "exchange issue" w/my EVO.... I hope!

This work around doesn't work for me. Anyone else also having same issues?
