    Default HTC Desire..the battery?

Hey guys, I'm new here and its my first thread but I'm really curious about the Desire's battery.

With mobile internet always on, receiving Facebook updates every 2 hours, email every 2 hours, weather every 2 hours and news every 4 hours. (sounds a lot worse than it actually is)

    Brightness on Auto.

Texting pretty constant through the day.

I get about 12 hours use out of it, from the morning which I unplug it, till I go to bed.

Its also pretty new, had it for just over a week, and i've heard that the battery should greatly improve after a number of charges, but how many?

And also apparently, any white colours produced by the AMOLED display consume the most power.

GPS, bluetooth and Wi-fi, these are always turned off.

So theres my love life, what about you guys, what are you experiencing? Thank you in advance

    Hi,
My battery lasts for the day.. I dont update facebook that much but i would use automatic updates always on. download couple of apps and some music and the battery will last from 8:00 to 23h.

If i am stuck in a place that i really need to watchout with battery usage then u disconnect all those features and leave only the mobile network on. ohh This makes all the difference. I might have text 5 or 6 time during day and 4, 5 min calls, and the battery last me for 2 days at 54% and then i started using gps and wireless and 3G and i played a game and I used the other 50% in 2hours... so i think it really depends on the environment your into....

Could it be better?? possible yes.. maybe reducing the timeout process running behind.. but it's not that bad..
So far i have seen no improvement after charging cycles... but i have done maybe 5 cycles and always charge when battery is at 14%..

Eventually once or twice when i am using the phone as drive it also gets some charge but nothing really interesting to look at..

    Hey,
I use mine with the auto updates always on. I have weather every 3 hours, I guess my e-mail is on constant, never messed with any setting for how often to check, manual update for news. I use bluetooth for my drive into work and back home or whenever I am in the car, maybe 1 hour per day. I use a bit of wi-fi most every day, again maybe an hour. I do a low amount of texting, maybe 10 or 20 per day. A few phone calls, maybe around an hour. That's my common use. I unplug the phone in the morning and must charge by the time I go to bed. The phone is nearly dead at 14% by then a lot. I have done numerous charges and one update to 1.21.405.2, hoping that would help. Haven't really seen any difference.

    That's my story...

My first full charge lasted me 8 hours today!! I actually had to go out in my lunchbreak and buy a USB charger as I was working out another office with my desk phone on divert to it and I knew I wouldnt last much beyond mid afternoon. Trying to follow the tips of running it right down and fully charging but its going to be tough!! Looks like its going to be comparable to my iPhone 3G.

I have now run out of ideas

I have owned this phone for about 2 months now, everything was fine at first, i could use the phone heavily, not charge it at night and still have enough juice the next day up until lunch time. However the past 2 weeks have been very different - let me start by saying i have spent hours and hours trawling forums for information about this so with all due respect please do not suggest me any more 'battery saving tips' - I have turned off EVERYTHING on the phone, there are no background tasks running, i have no task killer, no wifi/bt or gps on, no syncing, its at absolute most basic running, without the phone receiving or making a single call or text, just being left on idle mode it runs flat in 14 hours. That is ridiculous. I have performed a factory reset on it, made no difference, I have treated the battery correctly and I simply cannot understand why it is doing this now.

It cannot be an app running as i have checked this, double checked and triple checked, nothing is running, so im left to assume that i either have a faulty handset or a faulty battery which if i understand from these forums is highly unlikely. I honestly dont know what to do now and im considering sending it back, 14 hours on standby with nothing running - it means the phone is essentially a rather expensive android paper weight. Completely unacceptable.

What have other people done in this situation - I have read people getting 30 hours out of it with normal usage?? - its a shame because my little HTC adventure started off so well and i just seem to have hit a brick wall now. Am giving serious consideration to going back to my N97 until my upgrade is due. That phone lasts a week on idle.

    Bittery disappointed HTC customer :-(

    Default HTC Desire

Bought my HTC Desire on sunday and ever since i;ve been charging it non stop.

for example charged it today about 9.30am, full (bearing in mind i have everything switch off, wifi etc, i have had two, 1 minute calls today) its know 5pm and the battery is half gone. this is disgusting. tonight i will need to re-charge it again, basically am geting 12 hours.

i have seen chargers that you charge and take with you, you can get 4-5 charges out of it until you need to charge the charger http://www.gizoo.co.uk/Products/AvCo...VehoPebble.htm

also theres a 2400mah battery thats bigger and you can get this for about £25, which am tempted to get.

Am thinking of getting the iphone 4. imagine i used it for internet and everything, i would be lucky to get 8 hours of it.

Hi. I have had my new HTC Desire for nearly a week now and I have noticed that it certainly loves to drink the battery juice, even when its apparently not doing much. I have mine set on quite basic settings. The only thing I sync is the weather app and I have it set to auto connect to the GSM, H and 3G connections when available. Today I started out this morning early with a 100% charge. I did a couple of texts, made a quick call and by lunch time at work the battery was down into the 60% - 70% region and it had only been mainly sitting there on my desk. Its a great device, but if I was going for a day trip out somewhere and I had no access to a power point I'm not sure I could trust it to last the day, particularly if you did several things, like take some photos, use the internet a bit, make a few calls, listen to a bit of music etc. When I first got the Desire I played about with it heavily one morning and from a full charge I had practically depleted it by the afternoon. Something that it seems to do is to unnecessarily run apps in the background that aren’t being used. For example, the stocks app keeps starting up even though I kill it. Still it wouldn't be a smartphone if it didn't have issues. They always do IMO.

    Default HTC Desire battery life

OK, folks, you may have seen my thread about somewhere. i was thinking of getting a pebble charger or a thicker battery. but before i thought of buying one of these, i thought i would e-mail HTC. i confirmed with them that i was only getting 12 hours of life from my desire, bearing in mind that i put a blank sim in so no one contacted me on it, as people did not have the number and to test the battery, i switched of all BT, wifi etc etc off. Anyhow to cut a long story short (here is the e-mail sent by HTC)...

The battery is weak, very weak!! I came over to the HTC Desire from an iPhone 3G due to the positive reviews on the likes of CNET etc. Obviously, they don't only spend a couple of hours fiddling with the phone. My iPhone had a much better battery life on it.

I can be at work for up to 15 hrs per day - the Desire won't last the whole time and that is with everything 'turned off' which kinda defeats the object in my opinion. Not happy that I'm stuck in a 2 year contract - already 'looking forward' to my next (better) phone.

[Mutters to himself . . . . . . . 'Why O why did I ever move away from Nokia?? Come back 6310i, all is forgiven! How I miss the 7 days between charges!!!']

YEP, i do belive that companies, such as CNET etc, give out false positives.
