Bump
I'm having the same problem with HTC Desire, random reboots to HTC welcome screen occur. Once phone start to reboot, it reboots 2 or 3 times then get stuck at HTC screen. Have to remove/reinsert battery to get the phone back on.
This started happening after about 2 months of flawless operation. No new apps have been installed the past 4 weeks or so.

I have this very same problem

The device restarts on its own when using the browser or Navigator, or Google Earth. Very, very disappointing. I hard resetted the phone thrice without any benefit, as well as changing SIM and SD card

I have the same problem. My Desire reboot after some minutes of viewing clips on browser. After that it loops for rebooting until I remove the battery and wait for a moment.

I have bought two HTC HD2 in the last week and both phones have had the same problem. I have handed them both in and gotten my money back. I have sent an e-mail about this to HTC but they do not seem to be aware of the problem. I have not gotten any responses to my thread under HTC HD2 so it seems like this could be a new problem with a common hardware/software. We can at least rule out the operating system (windows mobile/android). I am not buying a new HTC until this problem is solved.

It seems it's due to overheating and somehow related to the 2.2 version of ROM. The HD2 had system stabibility issues which were resolved via the latest updates (found on the Support page of the HTC website).
