    Default Phone re starting poll

Having real problems with my desire now. At any time of the day, no matter what I'm using the phone for, the phone will switch off and re start and in to the white HTC screen. If I'm lucky it re boots ok the first time or mebbe after 6 or so self re starts. If I'm not lucky the white screen confr up with HTC logo then the phone vibrates 7 times then hangs on the white screen. The only option then is too pull off the cover, removed the battery and start again. If this happens to you please leave a reply with your experience. Thanks, steve

I've been having exactly the same problem with my Desire. It's at the HTC repair centre at the moment as other people who have had the same issue have had to have their motherboards replaced.
I'm expecting to get the phone back next week and hopefully it won't happen again.

I am having this problem too, exactly the same! I can be using internet, messaging, anything and it simply goes to the white screen. Often I now have to remove the battery and even then I sometimes if I put it back to soon it is still on the white screen. I have tried to check to see if there are any updates but there aren't so I am going to have to get it sent away by my contract provider (I'd prefer a new one but I doubt they'll do that...)

    Hi Zelle

I would recommend contacting HTC directly as they are more likely to get the motherboard replaced first time. UK contract providers tend to just get the phone reflashed a couple of times before providing a refurbished handsetas replacement.

Well this story continues. I called Virgin who replaced my desire with another desire (refurbished as Goodson stated would happen), I plug it in to charge and after a few hours start setup wizard with happy expectations that I no longer have problems. HOWEVER, 10 minutes (if that) into my setup it restarts itself - grrrrr! So I phone Virgin and the lady on the other end stated that they had never heard of this problem with the desires, she has one and half the office had one and nothing like this had ever happened! Of course I'm furious at her inference that I am causing this problem but I do think I must be the unluckiest person with an HTC to get two phones that have the same fault. (Of course we will never find out why the person who had my replacement phone first sent it back...)
I love the phone but I don't know if I can trust it. I'm constantly worried it will shut down when I'm on a call etc...

hi hi, new here, got the same problem also.
i've been looking around on different forums and so and one of the forums had someone saying it didn't happen anymore after having his/her motherboard replaced. (maybe phones with AMOLED screens have it more, not sure)
i already send my phone in also. there really is NO OTHER WAY at the moment. this reset thing will kinda get you fearing a reboot everytime you use apps that normally have a high reboot chance.

i do have one tip however. with me and some other people it's SIM card/ antenna related.
this means if you set your phone to airplane mode it will stop rebooting for a huge %.
at the very least it might stop loop rebooting itself.
set a pin to your sim so when it reboots it needs to ask for a pin before turning on network services. at this moment turn airplane mode on to have it start normal.

but you can't have this mode always on because what's a phone that can't receive or send calls.
i would like to hear more good news about this problem. like more success stories of repairs. but once most people have a repaired phone they don't bother with these forums no more.
