Desire shuts down randomly
Hello
This past 2 weeks ive had a problem with my Desire. It's shutting itself down randomly, today it did so 3 times, once during a call. It boots without any problems when i press the power button. It can take a few hours, or a day, or it might even not happen for 1-2 days but for the past 2 weeks it has shut itself down a total of 9 times so i have to start it with the power button. What could this be??

I have had mine for 2 months and i could be surfing the web, playing music or a game or looking at my photo gallery when it shuts down, happens totally randomly. Still have 30mb of internal memory and over 2gb on memory card. yesterday i updated to version 2.3 thinking it might clear it, but no, crashed 3 times last night.......really annoying!!!!!

Last night I put a piece of paper over the battery so I doesn't move and up to now it didn't shut off. So this might be the problem, the battery looses contact.

The piece of paper over the battery didn't work. Anyone knows if HTC gives international warranty?

Mine too
Hi, for over two weeks, it happened to me twice. Once during browsing the setup. My phone even did shut down and didn t switched on by pressing the power button. I then opened the case, removed and inserted the battery then it switched on again. The second time, it just restarted. The problem didn't persists so far. According tho my last experience with a Sony-Ericson W810, with similar problem, I have put some multi-folded paper aside the battery to force the battery to a firm connection. Interestingly, the shutdown problem have been solved for 2-3 years! Faulty design. I will try similar solution if the problem repeats with HTC DESIRE.

I have a HTC Desire HD which is a brand new replacement for the same phone I broke accidently. I have had this new replacement just two weeks. The difference with it is for some strange reason it shuts down randomly when I take photos or reply to texts. Also the battery power last about two hours max! Has anyone any ideas as it is basically next to useless. I am having to revert to putting my sim card into a backup phone, just to be able to receive calls and texts.
