Sync Issue Stuck on Updating HTC library
Hi All,
First time using this forum as i have only just got my first HTC phone.
I think its quite good so far, however i am have trouble trying to sync with my PC.
I have downloaded and installed the latest sync software from the HTC website, then plugged in the phone and selected the HTC sync option.
The PC recognises that the phone is plugged in and starts the software start up screen and displays the message 'updating htc library' in the bottom right hand corner.
This is as far as i can get and the software eventually times out and closes!!!
I have tried on another PC and the same error occurrs!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sync Issue Stuck on Updating HTC library
I've got the same problem with HTC Sync 3.0.5481, my operating system is however Windows 7 (phone: HTC Desire). I personally don't think that the issue is operating System related. It worked fine the first time I installed it but ever since I've not had any luck. It does not load to the home screen where you can select Sync Now.
Despite this the compute and the phone are able to talk and on the bottom right hand corner of the computer screen I have a HTC icon which indicates that the phone connection has been made. I am also able to right click here and select "Synchronize now". When I do so from the computer, i can see that on the phone the Synchronization status changes to Synchronizing but nothing happens.
With my limited knowledge I think it's got something to do with HTC 3.0 and possibly a third part software that it uses, because when I uninstall 3.0 and use the older 2.0.40 the sync work well.
pls help.

Further info... assistance required.
Following my earlier post I now believe that the issue is caused when Adobe Pro is installed. One of the other programs seems to be affecting the Sync software from loading. Could it be something to do with the fact that Htc Sync 3.0.x uses adobe air?
That's the extent of my technical knowledge and reasoning I'm afraid.
I'll need the help of a developer to get to the bottom of this.

Same on Win7 SP1 32bit with HTC Sync 3.0.551
Hello everybody
I've got a brand new HTC Sensation and tried to sync my phone with HTC Sync software. It stucks also at the updating htc library splashscreen. I could never run it, even at first run (some people wrote they could launch it 4 the first time and then they're also stuck on this screen).
I had an HTC HD2 with a custom rom where i used MyPhoneExplorer to sync my data. So i gave it a try with m< HTC Sensation and it works really great!
So for everyone with an Android Phone, i recommend to use MyPhoneExplorer: www.fjsoft.at
An other advantage if you use this software: You could use it with every Android phone. So even if you buy an android from another manufacturer, just keep your sync software!
Give it a try! You just have to perform 2 steps to get it to run:
- Enable USB-debugging (under Settings->Applications->Development)
- Install the USB-debugging driver for your specific phone (normally automatically installs while you install the original manufacturer sync software, or use google to find one)

Download and enjoy it at: http://www.fjsoft.at

I had this problem too, solved it by ...
... uninstalling Adobe Air, and then rerunning the install of HTC sync. It installed an earlier version of Adobe Air. It works fine now.
This is not good, a company like HTC supplying software with compatibility issues with the latest version of the platform it uses.
Here is the reply I received from HTC support. Note, it did NOT solve the problem.
In regards to problems with HTC Sync and your HTC Desire HD, I can help you with that.
The first thing to try is to uninstall and then reinstall HTC Sync, making sure it is the latest version from the website, once the program has been installed please make sure to restart the PC. If you are having difficulty downloading the file, then please make sure all anti-virus and firewalls are disabled for the duration of the download.
Now on the phone please make sure the following settings are correct, press Menu>Settings>Applications>Development>And make sure 'USB Debugging' is switched on, next press the back button so you are in the setting screen and press Connect to PC>Then set the default connection type to PC Sync.
After this we need to remove the previous HTC Sync file from the phone, as this may have become corrupted, press Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>And find HTC Sync, open this and press Uninstall, do not worry this will not erase any data from the phone.
Now try to connect to the PC again, making sure that HTC Sync is NOT open on the PC, when the phone is plugged in, make sure to select the PC Sync option on the phone screen if prompted to do so, the PC will now search for HTC Sync and open it itself. You should now be able to complete a sync with your PC.
I trust that this resolves your query, please do not hesitate to contact us again if required.
