    Unhappy Charging in Car

    Hi,
I had no dramas charging my phone in car. The charger cord got stepped on and exposed the wiring so I purchased a new one. The previous one worked fine. Now when I try and charge my phone in car it comes up with car mode and doesn't charge. I have enabled and disable car dock and no difference. I don't get the problem anymore in relation to car mode. The issue I have is I have since bought a second charger just encase it was the charger I purchased but the same thing it doesn't charge. I have used both chargers on another phone that I have and both charge that other phone fine. So just to further explain I plug in my HTC Desire into the cigarette lighter and it puts the screen on as if it was charging properly though there is no evidence of charging and when I go into battery status it says not charging? I know it isn't charging as I visit my parents and drive there and it is a 3 and a half hour drive and if I don't charge it overnight the battery is less than half full when I arrive even though it has been plugged in all the time to the cigarette lighter presumably charging! Anyone else have this problem or know of a fix apart from sending it back for repair if it needs it though I don't reckon it will as it charges fine in the wall socket and also via USB connected to my PC

I am having the same problem with no charging and coming up in car mode. But it only started to do this after the Gingerbread update. I've called T-Mobile and they appear unaware of the problem. Like you, my phone comes up in Car Mode but will no longer charge with the car charger. It charges fine with wall chargers.

if your just charging and it doesn't charge then not sure,
if however your using the sat nav, I find that it can't charge fast enough to stay on top of sat navs power drain,
I have the same problem when travelling a 2/3hr journey, also found exactly the same problem when using my last phone HTC TYTNII,
