Android 2.3 update worth it?
Hey,
I've read some things that have said that it is worth it, but others say it is a bit risky etc because of the fact that you cant restore your phone to Froyo if you don't like Gingerbread.
So is it worth it?

1. Install HTC Sync and connect your Desire to the computer.
2. Backup your phone data accordingly.
3. Download the ROM upgrade here. (DO READ THE LICENSE AGREEMENT IN FULL FOR LIMITATIONS)
4. Extract the RUU from the zipfile to a location on your hard drive and run it to upgrade. Please do not send your questions or problems to me using Private Messages function. you can do it if you have a wifi connection
go to settings>about phone> software updates> check now
just follow the next step then wait for it to download... once its done wait for it to install oh btw... you need battery to do this dont update when your phone is drained lol..
just wait for it to install.. it takes several minutes.. go do something while waiting ^_^

Download the 161Mb Gingerbread upgrade from the HTC Developers site to your Desktop/Laptop. Backup your data (using apps or Google etc). Run sync with your PC/Laptop and ensure it doesn't sleep or hibernate. Place HTC in Airplane mode and ensure it's fully charged then run the upgrade. Went from 75Mb to 124Mb free. Seems quicker and smoother. Brilliant. Chris

This hasn't worked on my HTC Desire. I have 2.2 and it says it is up to date when I try to update it.

How does one back up an HTC Desire? The manual is very vague on this question with no clear instructions. I have not found where to down load the ROM upgrade either. Maybe I'm being a bit dim!
