Default HTC Desire keeps shutting down and going into reboot loop, heats up

    Hi,

I have a HTC Desire and it has started to shut down and going into a reboot loop when using the internet for long period or if I use the navigation app for 10/20 mins. It also seems to heat up and this is when it shuts down... Anyone else experience this ? Is this a known fault and HTC will fix ?

Thanks for any advice as this is getting pretty annoying. I want to use all the smartphone features to its fullest but I cannot with this issue.

Hello Kathleen- i have the same problem-went back to phone carrier and was told i must of dropped it/ or third party interference from an app i have downloaded. If we think about it our phones are miniture computers with no cooling system- mine shuts down when hot- after charging it or using it for a while on the net- so if you have a fridge handy pop your phone in there for about 10 min and hey presto it will work fine- yep and im the dumb ass according to the the phone company !!!

I have 2x Desires for business use and BOTH had this problem. Both phones dated from June 2010 on a 24 month contract. The first had the problem in Feb 2011 and it was replaced by a "repaired" unit; the second was replaced by a "repaired" unit in May 2011 - both under the warranty from the contract provider. It was acknowledged by HTC UK support there was a number of people reporting this problem. If your unit is still under a warranty, get it replaced. Note, under UK law, equipement has to be fit for purpose and the sale of goods laws give 12 months recourse to the buyer for items that fail within 12 months. If you are not in the UK, then check your sales laws.

Just put a small piece of paper between the battery and the lock and you'll never encounter the problem again.

Just put a small piece of paper between the battery and the lock (as "spacer") and you'll never encounter the problem again.
