Thread: Desire just deleted all my messages

Hi,
Haven't posted since August, but just ran into this problem.
Today, I was texting people, you know, as usual, and put my phone down while I went and did something. I got 4 messages in quick succession from a friend, and when I got back to my phone about 15 mins later, ALL my messages were deleted apart from those 4. This was extremely annoying. I did not have the option where it said delete old messages enabled as I turned that off when I got the handset over a year ago.
Although annoying, I did have SMS Backup and did fortunately back up my texts only last Thursday. However, when restoring the messages, it only restored a certain amount, and after it restored it said 'successfully restored 4862 (can't remember exact number) messages, and 8258 dup. Dup I take to be duplicate. As we speak, I am trying to restore the messages again, and will post back to tell of any success or failure.
If this has happened to anyone else, and can think of a reason why, or how to stop it, I would be very grateful.
