Default Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network VF

    Hi forum,

I have two HTC G1s (White one and Black one), both are supposedly unlocked.

The white one works a charm on Vodafone.

I purchased the Black one recently, and the ebay seller told me it was unlocked.

The message I get when trying to connect to Vodafone is "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"

I took it to a couple of shops to see if they could do anything, they told me they are getting the same error with T-Mobile sims. They told me there is nothing I can now do about it, there is no way to repair it.

This is puzzling and worrying, as well as sounding completely absurd.

Surely something can be done to get this phone working, even if it's on T-Mobile... ?

I hope you can help, many thanks to all for reading.

Contact T-mobile. They will send you the unlock code, depending what country you live in 90 days, 180 days or some places after a year after the phone is first activated. Other option is to contact tupisdin on XDA-developers.

hi Jaapstar, thanks so much for your reply.

    How do I find tupisdin?

    Is XDA-developers a web site?

    Many thanks

    hi readers,

    The plot thickens.

I took it to the store again, and they say the phone has been 'barred'. i.e. it was stolen and barred by t-mobile, and that 'nothing can be done' to get the phone operational again.

I am not convinced by what the shops are saying, here's one reason:

I have placed my T-mobile web 'n' walk sim card into the HTC g1, and funny enough it does connect to the network. I can even browse the net, etc. However, I can't make or receive calls, but I think this is more to do with my package being web 'n' walk, rather than my G1.

Does anyone know what I can do? is my phone likely to be barred?

I hope to hear from you.

    Many thanks.

    Ravi

I know this is quite a while after your post, but I wondered whether you managed to resolve this issue. I'm faced with the same problem (which seems to be discussed a lot on other forums but just not this one.)

Also, the following site provides a free check of the blocked status of your phone: http://www.amta.org.au/pages/amta/Ch...f.your.Handset It doesn't show my phone as blocked, yet I still get the message "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" - and that's after its been working fine for weeks.

    Brian.
