    Arrow Beware GPS Additction

Damn guys GPS can trick you if your not careful.

The good thing about GPS is when you don't know how to get some where or when you are lost as hell and just want to know how to get home.

The bad thing is when you get used to using it on long trips. I just recent went out of town on an 8 hour drive. On my trip there I knew where I was going and just kinda used the GPS to see where it wanted me to go. On my way I got used to the GPS telling me every turn even though I knew where to go. The problem is that when you get used to it your brain dies.

I can't say when it happened but at one point I was told to get off the interstate where I was driving 85mpg and drive 5 miles on a little 35mph speed limit road that ran along side the interstate. That made me feel really stupid but I didn't learn.

The next day I got up ready to eat so I took off out the hotel. Told my GPS to take me to there closets Denny's for some good grub. The hotel was next to the interstate I get out to my car and the window is smashed some one tried to steal some thing from me. They didn't get anything because I pull all the goodies out of my car. Unless they want a cd player with no face place.

Anyways its also raining so my car is wet and now i'm wet but first things first a mans got to eat. I grabed a few towles from house keeping and a huge trash bag. Jumped in the car and took off. The GPS tell me to turn right at the stop sign then take the right ramp onto the interstate. It says its only .2 miles away so i'm thinking maybe this exit has a A and B or something. I didn't want to get on the interstate anyway because of the trash bag. So anyway I put my trust in my GPS and jump on the interstate. As soon as I get off the ramp the damn thing tells me to go 5 miles and exit. That sucks if you have ever went 75mph in the rain trying to hold a black trash bag on your window and still see out of it.

As soon as I exit it tells me to get back on the interstate going the way I had just came. I'm freaking mad cursing like a sailor I get back on the interstate. I drive 5 miles at around 100mph and get back off at the exit I started out and low and behold there is Denny's as soon as I get off the ramp.

I realized I had gone brain dead while sitting at the red light waiting to turn into Denny's. Looking across the street I notice the road my hotel was on. All I had to do was drive through a red light across the street and I would have been there.

    Freaking Brain Dead!

    Haha

Were you using one of those handheld GPS units or did you get a GPS receiver for your Touch?

A friend of mine has a handheld and we've brought it on some little road trips (with printed out directions as backup) and it gives some weird directions, the printed directions end up being used

Too funny. It seems with technology we tend to leave our common sense at home.
