Voice dialing from my bluetooth
Can anybody tell me when voice dialing through my bluetooth is going to be available? Right now I can initiate it from my handset, but not from my headset.

Re: Voice dialing from my bluetooth
It'll be available as soon as you buy a better headset. All devices are capable of dialing thru the headset, but it depends on whether your headset is capable of such. I have used voice dialing with BT headsets on many devices from HTC to Motorola to Samsung to ... Look for a BT headset that is capable of Voice Commands, & you're all set. I believe all Motorola BT headsets are capable of this, but nt sure of other brands.

Re: Voice dialing from my bluetooth
Actually...I've used voice dialing on many devices as well. I had a Samsung Instinct paired up with a Jabra BT160 that worked beautifully. I then upgraded the instinct to the HTC Hero. The Hero has voice dial capabilities, but hitting the button on the headset doesn't activitate it. I though maybe because my BT was old that it was the problem so I went and purchased a Jabra BT2080 headset yesterday. This headset does support voice commands, but on the hero it still doesn't work. I called sprint and they said that the feature doesn't work on this phone and to check with the OEM to see when it would be available.
Now, if you have a headset that you've paired with a hero and had it work I'd love to hear the model number. I'd exchange the BT2080 in a heartbeat to get this feature working.
Thanks for the input.

Re: Voice dialing from my bluetooth
I'm sorry. I was a lil' quick to reply, as it's hard to believe that an HTC device won't support it. I just did a quick search & found a few posts with the same problem. one answer that seemed to tell a lil, is: "not in the european versions of android. in the us you can long-press the call button _on the phone_ to activate voice dialing. but the whole process is rather lame, and needs to be adapted to allow for true hands-free operation like it is required by law in (almost?) all of europe." <taken from XDA-Developers.
I was also able to find this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=545257 It is for the Rhodium {TP2} but may be a good place to start & test it out. One guy lists a couple BT headsets that worked with his TP2, when no others would. Mybe it's just an issue of compatibility.
Again sorry if I seemed rude, but Usually it's just a matter of getting the latest BT device. Radio stacks are changed alot & there may be a Headset that works with your BT. Then again, it may be that they haven't released one yet as well. By all intents & purposes it should work. I have not used bluetooth hadsfree with a Hero. I have used the BT FTP services to connect to my buddies Hero.I'm Lost; I've Gone To Find Myself. If I Return Before I Get Back; Please Ask Me To Wait.
