Angry Microphone feedback problem when talking on the phone

Now and then I get complaints from the person I talk to that the sound quality suddenly becomes very poor. The comments usually are:

    - Oops, I think you have switch on the speaker (which I don't have). I hear a lot of noice around you. ... or

    - Hey, I can bearly hear you. I think you have a signal problem (which I don't have) ...or

    - What happend? Are you in a cave? There is a echo problem, I can hear my own voice.

I think there is some kind of microphone feedback problem.

At all time I can still hear with good quality. The poor sound is always for the other person.

I have tried to switch the speaker on/off and mute on/off during the call but it doesn't help. The only thing to do is to hang up and call back. Then the sound is back to normal .... but can again switch back to poor quality after a while.

Anyone else with the same problem?

    /Mikael

Don't worry mate, you are not alone. This really really really annoying problem occured for me maybe 2-3weeks back, and I have not been able to find ANYTHING that can help with this, but as I can remember there was a Update on the system around that time, because I had never had this problem before.

I tried contacting HTC but they told me to Reset the whole phone to factory settings and delete everything, wich I now yasterday did, but not even after 30seconds after my first call I got the same issue again, so HTC is apparently clueless wich s*cks and I am guessing all we can do is wait for them to get off their ass and send us a new update ASAP. Because this is truly pathetic.

But something I have been able to register about this annoying issue is:

** It occurs when you "turn / tilt" the phone in whatever direction instead of keeping it completely straight. It can occur even with this slightest of "turn / tilt" of the phone and then you have to start the call over to get rid of it.
** Sometimes you can shake the phone like a madman and still nothing happends for some stupid reason.
** Sometimes it gets worse or sometimes it's just a "little". I've had people panic and think I am having some sort of seizure and start running of to my appartment, or sometimes they just get annoyed and ask me to turn of the speakers.

But what I can tell you, you are NOT ALONE. More and more people start to complain about this issue on different forums and sites and it's about damn time HTC made a fking STATEMENT about what has happend to re-assure us users not to get our money back and go back to Iphone or Samsung or even some of the new Nokia. Because if they can't resolve this quickly they are going to loose a lot of customers.

If anyone else is experiencing this issue please don't be too lazy to register and Comment on this because if we make HTC see that this issue is as big as it probably is, they will work faster on it.

Also please write wich model you are currently having this issue with. (If you are not aware that this is Incredible S forums or you're having this issue with another model but posting here anyway)
    I own a HTC Incredible S

Hello Mikael, yes, this is the only way to make the issue go away, if you use your headset doesn't matter if it's bluetooth or not, this will not occur. I hope HTC gets something done about this ASAP.

I bought my HTC I S in may 2011, since then i have visited HTC service center at least 4 times, during last visit HTC says they have replaced the whole body but microphone
problem is still not resolved. HTC says this is first time they came across this type of problem. now HTC Delhi is asking me to again give the phone to their service center.
I don't know what to do? I even asked the shopwala to replace the phone with any other brand..

I'm having the same issue, also with an Incredible S from 2011. It seemed fine when I first got it but over the past week or so it's become almost unusable for voice calls, unless I use the speakerphone. (Oddly, switching from speakerphone back to the earpiece seems to clear up the problem, although I need to do a little more testing to confirm that.) Is there any fix for this yet, or any hope of one in the near future?

Yes, I also have the "echo" problem, and I have been asked to call back, in case it is just a connection problem - it's not.

I also constantly have a very bad echo when using with a handsfree kit in my car, this is at the stage where there is no point in attempting to have a conversation at all.

So a resolution to this very common problem would be appreciated by us all.

I have HTC Incredible S, purchased on 30 June 2011

Yes. Even I am facing the same problem. I purchased a July 2011 phone. I got the handset replaced and also the sim card but nothing worked for me.

Finally I found a weird solution to the problem. I had a silicon cover which i removed during calling and there was no looking back after that. Although if i call with cover on the receiver does hear an echo sound after 3 minutes into the call.

The problem is solved for me. Please check if its working for you guys!!
