Default Bluetooth Stereo - choppy connection with S9-HD

I have been trying to use a Motorokr s9-HD bluetooth stereo headset to listen to music in the gym but my connection gets very choppy. Is this kind of interference a limitation of bluetooth in general or do I need a different headset?

and where and how far is the phone in relation to your person?

as with any radio signal, the quality will be better if the signal doesn't have to penetrate solid objects, i.e., your body, walls, glass, metals, etc.
