Default Does the One V have signal problems?

    Hello

I recently purchased an HTC One V from Amazon in the UK. I am finding that the signal strength drops dramatically if the phone isn't held in precisely the right way. This makes the phone unusable, as the 'right' way (with your fingertips) is not comfortable for long conversations - and if you forget even briefly, and adjust your grip, the call is dropped. It is like the 'death grip' problem that plagued the iPhone 4.

I have lived in the same place for several years, and had a number of different phones. I have never had a problem with calls dropping, yet with this new phone I have lost the connection several times - and when I look at the display I see that there is no signal. There is a strong signal where I live, and I have never had to think about how I am holding any of the other phones - they have just worked. Most of them have been Nokia phones, if that makes a difference.

I have checked inside the bottom cover, and the contacts are clean and unobstructed. I have also tried putting the SIM card in another phone - and that other phone had no signal problems whatsoever.

    There are two options:
    (1) This is a manufacturing defect, and I have been delivered a faulty handset.
    or
    (2) This is a design fault, and the HTC One V is not suitable for use as a phone. I say that because in all other respects I find it does just what I need.

I am hoping that this is simply a faulty handset, so please could I hear from other owners whether they have experienced similar problems?

If this is a common problem then I shall have to get a refund instead of a replacement, and I would rather not do that! Please let me know what your experience has been?

    Thank you.

Well - none of it matters now, because the phone has died. Which doesn't seem uncommon. Of course you can always find examples of dead phones just by doing a Google search, but doing a search for "HTC ONE V dead" brings up some interesting pages.

Before it died I was in communication with HTC customer support, who suggested that it might be the SIM card. I tried alternatives and it made no difference.

So - the phone has signal problems, the sound quality of calls is poor, and there are major reliability issues.

That will teach me to buy new technology, won't it!!! Any suggestions for which phone I should try next?

    Hi all,
This is Pete from Barcelona/Spain. I bought HTC ONE V just couple of days ago and noticed an irritating signal loss , using 3G mobile internet and also my "V" drops the normal mobile network suddenly when one just moves about a bit. WIFI connectivity is just fine.
My previous phone - a N97 Mini - never had any signal loss problems and my wife's WILDFIRE S doesn't have any problems whatsoever.
I cannot use the phone for navigating since in car the phone just goes dumb on me. Also cannot even navigate walking - the mobile 3G/EDGE/HSDPA connectivity is dropped - even my wife's Wildfire is running full blast.
I Never had this kind of problems and just wonder if this is a manufacturing defect. Anyway, tomorrow I will go back to the shop and get my money back.
I can only rate my meeting with HTC ONE V as a highly disappointing experience.
