Thread: Noob question regarding Wifi

I'm getting an HTC S710 in a few days, and since his will be my first true smartphone, I've been wondering. I'm on a prepaid plan, which means I don't have a data plan attached to it (the new phone will be unlocked BTW), so my question is: Can I set applications, or set a global rule, to only allow them to use Wifi for data access? Basically, I don't want background processes to suck my account dry. I realize that I can simply not enter GPRS account information, but still. Surely someone has thought about this before?
