Thread: HTC S710 - the best home screen (and how to set it up)

Had a problem with my S710, had to do a hard reset!

Could not get the home screen to be the same - the old setting which I noted down said "windows live"
Tried one that said "windows live default" but all the icons/fonts were too big and the sms/email notifications were off the bottom of the screen - have to scroll down to see any new stuff etc. thats no good!

So did a full ROM flash update (it was the same version as it happened) only takes 10 mins and a few restarts etc.

The home page was put back to the best one - HTC Home Screen 1.17

nice and green and small icons/fonts.

Once you have done this go to start, messenger, and set up your hotmail details.
I chose not to display the live search bar (my preference), or share contacts etc.
On exit the home screen now has the windows live banner and when you go into SMS/MMS/email icon/banner (that now appears correctly 2/3rds down the screen) there is your entry "windows live" for your hotmail account.

If you now go to settings and check the home screen the layout now says windows live.

And there you have it!

PS I downloaded WLM_KB943824.exe from MS. this sorts out a problem(s) with windows live and is not available when you down a live "windows update"
