Default htc sensation xe problem with touch screen

Hello recently I bought a sensation XE for my son for christmas on O2 pay monthly. After a few days the touch screen became unresponsive frequently, but for some strange reason the bottom quarter of the screen still functioned. When it went back to normal after about 10 minutes the first time, everything became as slow as a phone from the 90's! None of the soft keys functioned either and restarting, powering off and locking and unlocking the phone didn't help at all. I returned the phone and got a new 'working' model, yesterday, and already the EXACT same problem is happening. I contacted HTC but all they say is 'do a factory reset'. I have done about 3 and none of them have worked. All O2 can reccomend is replacing it AGAIN. They don't seem to know or care enough to check if this is a big issue, and if it is an issue with the software, not the hardware. Is anyone else having this problem?

I have the same problem a few days ago but after factory reset it is okay now. I think you have hardware problem and need to repair it soon.

Do check the number of apps running at that instant of time. There could be one crazy app like anti-virus eating away all the resources in your phone. Un-install that app and it should be fine. I had a similar prob. Uninstalled all the apps I had installed the previous day and restarted the phone. Now it is back to normal.

Ok so I've had my nice new Sensation XE for a week now, and was getting on with it really well, until Saturday night, when completely out of the blue, the sccreen stopped responding to my touch. I could still use the unlock ring, and enter my sliding dotty password, but once past the lock screen, nothing. The Sense carosel wouldn't spin, and clicking on apps wouldn't do anything. The 4 function buttons still worked, but nothing on the screen itself.Being an old jailbroken iOS user the first thing I did was turn it off and on again, which seemed to resolve it. I happily went back to my drinking and forgot it happened.Since then, it happened twice on Sunday, when I was a bit more sober and thinking more clearly. I did some searching both here and on XDA and found out that its actually a fairly common fault with the Sensation after a couple of weeks of use. Luckily, the clever folks at XDA have a number of fixes, so I'm putting them here for easy finding by everyone visit this forum.xda-developers(dot)com/showthread(dot)php?t=1239238&highlight=screen+-responding
