Qwerty keyboard problem in landscape mode - text not displaying
Hello,
When writing text in landscape mode using the qwerty keyboard, the text does not display in the textbox. However if I then exit the keyboard or turn the phone into its portrait position any entered text then appears. The problem happens intermittently and disappears if I restart the phone. The phone is only two days old and I have already had to restart it 4 times. Does any one have any help or advice?
Many thanks,
Mich

I have this issue too with my 4-day old HTC Legend. I noticed that it happens most often when I'm typing up a long email or if I'm using a chat client for extended periods of time. It's a random issue, but it seems to be isolated to the app that encountered it. It doesn't seem to spill over to other apps that you can also use the landscape QWERTY KB with.
I found that in addition to shutting the phone off, I can use an app killer to quit the app that encountered it. This would restore the landscape QWERTY KB for that app the next time I start it up. It's a cumbersome solution, and I think it's more of a software bug than a hardware issue since the KB still works with other apps. Since the HTC service center people don't speak English much and I don't feel it's a hardware issue, I just sent an e-mail about this on the HTC Website. Hope they look into this since it seems like a software patch can fix it.

Hi Guys, I have an update to this. HTC sent me an email response saying you should do a hard reset of the phone. Apparently clearing it to its factory settings seemed to have cleared mine up. In the HTC Legend's case, you can do a hard reset by removing the battery, reinserting it, then pressing the lower volume control to gain root access to the phone OS. You should be able to select "Clear All" then hit the power button to restart the phone. You'll probably need to find out how this is done according to your handset.
I noticed this problem started with the bundled Gtalk app with mine, so I installed E-buddy and it hasn't resurfaced so far. It also seemed to help that I installed Apollo Task Killer so it periodically shuts down apps I'm not using so it frees up memory and prevents errors. Now it's running pretty good.
Hope this helps out.

I found another solution, I just switched off my phone and switched on again and wolla, the problem was gone. Perhaps it just needed a restart because I NEVER switch my phone off. Perhaps you could try this and see if it works for you. Now text in landscape and portrait displaying like it should.
