Contacts, Where are they???
I upgraded yesterday to a Tattoo.
I wasn't keen to keep the contacts that were imported from the sim card as they do not carry the full name (due to limitations in amount of characters that can be stored on a sim card), eg, 'John & Anne' is displayed on the phone as '& Ann;John'.
I installed HTC Sync on my laptop and managed to sync the contacts that I had saved to Outlook from my old phone to the new one.
I added All People widget to my homescreen and when I tap that, I get the list of all of the contacts, even the ones that were imported from the sim card, even though I put the sim card in my old phone and deleted everything on the sim card.
When I go to Menu>People, all that appears is my contact card and add contact.
When I tap Add favorite person, the phone tells me that my contact list is empty and does not find any name that I enter in the search.
When I start to type out an sms, tapping the To: field and beginning to type a name, finds the contacts beginning with that letter, so why don't they show elsewhere?
A previous post asks about importing google contacts etc, I only want the contacts that I synced from Outlook to show, yet I get no menu option anywhere that enables me to add these contacts to the contact list nor as is also mentioned in the post an option to add a group (so I can add them all in one go).
The user manual downloaded from the HTC website is particularly poor, as it does not offer much in depth instruction into how to do much with the phone, it just gives the bare minimum advice on how to do something. What is the point of HTC Sync if the contacts are only going to be displayed in the All People widget. Adding a contact that already exists, visa the People option just duplicates the contact, which is just daft, it seems to be a little over obsessed with Facebook and Twitter and all of the social networks, rather than being a PHONE, which is what it is.
So, is anyone able to instruct me on how to show only the contacts synced with Outlook (and not the sim card)
And how can I get rid of the sim contacts stored on the phone, or is that only solved by a factory reset? as there are no options available to me when I tap All People, except to call or text them

Open people, press menu key and select 'view'. Select Google and Sim, all your contacts should show up.
