Thread: Insert contacts to SMS

Hi,

I'm wondering how I can insert a contact into an SMS. I tried inserting vCard, however the phone seem to convert my SMS to MMS automatically. Since I haven't activated that service, my sending fails. On the other hand, I'm able to view and import vCards I receive (I'm sure my friends are not using MMS either). Is there an easier way to insert contacts other than copying and pasting them?

messages > compose > tap the To: option and then select from your contacts.

Forgive me if that sounds obvious, but have you tried that?

I mean inserting contact details into SMS text, not the "To" field

I can't belive there is no option like this on a smart phone. My old nokia had no problems at inserting contacts as text or mms. Why is there no option like this on a htc? I find myself having to open the contact information (of the person I wish to pass his/her contact number to), edit it, copy the number and go back to the sms message to paste it. Whats up with that?

Wasn't very obvious but found a way to do it after playing around a bit on my HTC Desire.

1. View the contact that you want to send
2. Press Menu to see the option to "Send Contact" (Envelope with an arrow)
3. Select this option and you'll be offered a choice to send contact as Vcard by SMS/ MMS/ Mail/ Bluetooth.
4. Select the SMS option and press Send.
5. Now enter the SMS receiver's details and send the SMS.

Receiver gets something like this ...
Begin: Vcard
Version:2.1
TEL; CELL:<Number>;
END:Vcard
