Thread: Synchronisation of the Tattoo has stopped working -- why?

The sync function has been temperamental throughout the 6 months I've owned a Tattoo but it usually sorts itself out on its own. This time it's stopped working and shows no sign of finding its own solution. Can anyone advise, please?

I've been using HTC Sync ver 2.0.33 downloaded to the PC from the HTC website, and synching with Outlook 2007 running under Windows Vista. The phone settings for USB connection to the PC are correct.

The synchronisation starts but the progress bar gets as far as 'Preparing Data from PC' and then freezes indefinitely. I've tried restarting Windows with no result. It's even impossible to then close HTC Sync without resorting to Task Manager. It worked until a week ago and I'm not aware of any change to the PC in the last week. Scans of the PC for malware have not made any difference.

Any thoughts (other than of eg dropping the Tattoo from a great height -- I'm capable of thinking those on my own, thanks) or suggestions would be much appreciated.
