GPS Navigation on Thunderbolt
Google ‘maps’are good and Google ‘Latitude’ lets you stay in visual contact but sometimes there is a problem. Google maps requires Cellular Tower Contact (phone/dataservice) and if anyone has every traveled far from home, you will lose cellular service somewhere. The Navigation Fix…”Sygic.com” has a true navigation programthat is loaded onto your phone and does not require cell phone tower use as ituses GPS Satellites overhead. There is a free trial you can evaluate before purchasing. The program cost after converted to USD is $21 for North America,Mexico and Canada. After installing the ‘downloader’ from Sygic.com, you will download only the states you will be planning a route or traveling in during the trial. Each state requires separate download which includes TomTom maps, very large details compared to Google Maps. Map updates are free but require you to reload each state, that’s why I say “only download” what you will use until you evaluate the program. The screen on your Thunderbolt can be programmed to put things like ETA, Elevation, Speed, Signal, Time to Destinationin each corner of the field (your option). Like any stand alone GPS unit, custom POI and searches are all there; online or offline. This may be what you’ve been looking for and it works great on my Thunderbolt.
