Thread: sprint mogul-will it work on boost mobile

I have a boost mobile phone and i have access to a sprint mogul. Can I use the sprint mogul with my boost sim card? If not how about an att or a t mobile? Does anyone know or are there others that are compatable?

Yes you can. I did it. First, if your on boost iden (if your phone has an i on the model # your on Boost iden which uses the old Nextel network) you will have to change to Boost CDMA. You will have to buy 1 of the 4 CDMA phones they list on the site. (I bought a used krzr) and have them swap you over to the cdma side. This was the hardest part, because it is a completely different dept and they tried transfering me 4 times, with LONG hold times between, before they got it right. You can't use your boost phone since it will cut off in the midle of the process. I used the krzr for about a month, then bought a mogul on Ebay (great deal, like new just back from referb for $106). I called (once again, not on my boost phone, and asked to change my phone. They asked for the EIN. They then guided me through some programing and told me it may take a couple of hrs to start working, but I actually got a voice mail while they were trlling me that. It works great and I even get free Sprint nav!
Now I have read posts on other forums of folks getting declined and trying several times before getting a rep to do it, but my rep sounded very experianced and didn't hesitate to do it. HOWEVER, you may have some problems if things don't work right since they don't support the Mogul. This would mainly be a problem if trying to determin if a prob is with the nphone or network. Another option is to go to boostberry <dot> com and buy one of their specially programed blackbeerys and just pop in your sim card. Then if you have a problem, put it back in your old boost phone. If it works, it's the boostberry and is garenteed. If not it's the network, call boost and work it out. I think the mogul root is better because CDMA 3g is FAST and iden data is SSSLLLOOOWWW... Neary dial up speed.
