10V @ 10Amps?!?!?! WTF are you thinking? Not only will it damage it, it will set it on fire! HTC devices use 5V 1A to charge. DO NOT EXCEED!! You can go with a lower amperage, but not higher.
Don't know why you device is "shutting off..." when attached to USB. I only use USB for charging my Diams & I have never had a problem. Try removing some of the peripheals that are drawing power from your USB ports.

USB output is 5v 5000Milliamps, How do you figure?
No! USB output is 5V 500mA {.5A}. You are adding too many 0s to these numbers. 1A = 1000mA. 5000mA is 5A. If you look at an HTC charger, it list the output at 5V 1A {some are 500mA}.
But, what do I know? I'm only a 4th generation electronics repairman with 4 years of schooling & about 25 years repairing. Give it a try. Let us know the results.

Well if what you say is true then it should work just find to make the complete AMP... Kinda scary doing it on my own though =)
But if you put 10V into it you WILL FRY it!!! Period!!! If you introduce more then 1A {1000mA}, you WILL FRY it!!!
From what I understand; you have a USB bridge.? Or, is it a step up transformer? If it is a Bridge: What type of bridging is it? In a serial connection; Voltage {V} changes, whereas the Current {Amps} remains the same. In a parrallel connection; the voltage is constant & the Current changes. If you are using a step up transformer, then both the Voltage & Current can be affected {Dependant on the hardware}.
Now; let me try to explain this simply {Please bear with me as I have trouble putting this stuff in laymans terms}. Look at the charger as a roadway. Each Car is 1VDC & every Bus carries 100mA {0.1A}. Your device is the bus terminal where the cars & buses drop off there 'loads' & continue thru for the next 'load'. The Bus Terminal is Rated to safely allow for 5 cars & 10 buses. By using 10V, you are introducing 5 extra cars to the roadway. This will result in congestion at the terminal. Congestion at the terminal will cause these cars & buses to start a pileup. Eventually, the vehicles will overheat until one of them catches fire &/or explodes. No more Bus Terminal!
PS: It's hard to tell by reading, but I was being sarcastic, when I said "Try it, & let us know". I already know. Never Never Never use a charger that is rated higher then the OEM charger!
