I’ve recently downloaded and installed the IM app that was recently made available for Verizon PPCs on my 4GB SD card. The app works perfectly, however I noticed afterwards that I cannot delete or change files on my PPC or SD card! I can add files, but I cannot delete them once they have been downloaded to my PPC! Also, I noticed that none of my installed programs are appearing under Remove Programs in the Settings (all of my installed apps were installed on my SD card).
In addition, I can access my PPC's (onboard memory & SD card) from my PC, but I cannot add or delete files from my PC just the same!
I receive an error message indicating:
"Cannot delete 'file name': Access is Denied.
Be certain that the file is not write-protected (which it is not) and is currently not in use (which it is not)."
Has anyone experienced this or have any idea on how to correct this???? Help! S.O.S!
P.S. All other functionality appears to be intact and unaffected.
Apparently, it is not related to the Mobile IM app (thankfully, because I am glad this is now available for VZW Smartphones). It is caused by a error between Windows Mobile 6 and Microsoft Moble (specifically Word).
****UPDATE****
Unfortunately, there is no fix for this problem (boooo Microsoft). A Microsoft PPC forum did have fixes that worked for some. However, the only consistent fix is a hard reset. Here are the symptoms and effect of this issue:
- no applications in the remove program screen
- not able to modify/ delete any files
- not able to download files
- Office Mobile programs installed but not appearing in the Office Mobile program file
- unable to add/change/delete/sync files when connected to PC
****UPDATE parte deux****
I guess I no one here has experienced this problem (luckily for all of yous). After hours of scouring the net, I found the solution and it worked! So here it is!
After trying several suggestions (unsuccessfully) from a forum, this is one that finally worked!
1) soft reset device
2) Start / Office Mobile / Word
3) Create a new document (click on New)
4) type some text (just plain text - no formatting - it was 'plain text document') just a few characters
5) File / Save As...
6) I have selected type 'Plain Text'
7) It asked me whether I want to save it at 'Word document instead' - I clicked No.
8) I have powered off the device and did soft reset
9) Start file explorer, find the file (it was in My Device / My Documents), click on it - it opens Word again.
10) Add some formatting (I have selected part of text and changed font to bold)
11) Close Word - it asked whether to save it in Word format - this time I said Yes
12) Power-off the device and press soft reset again
