Default Which files are safe to delete to free up internal memory?

My internal ram is at 0.04k available. I obviously need to free up my internal memroy to get my phone to work and stop freezing up. I have a new sd card installed but unsure on how to correctly transfer files and programs. I cut and paste my 'MyDocument' and 'Windows' folder onto the sd card but only to discover the phone recreated these folders.

I cannot get into many programs and cannot delete sample photos and video, in my Windows folder I found a messanging folder and a Attachments sub folder. Is it safe to delete the items in these folders? What folders do you recommend I clear out?

    Thanks,
    JOE V

My Documents and Windows are system folders so you CANNOT move them.

What you can move is what's inside My Documents: your dcouments, photos, muisc, videos etc. What you should NOT move: Templates, UAContent

Create a folder called My Documents and then the corresponding subfolders on your Storage card then cut and paste your files to those folders. Do remember to change your camera's option to store new photos to memory card from now on.

    Whatelse you can move:
    1. applications that you installed - I recommend that you run installation again but this time choose to install to Storage card and they should get uninstalled from main memory at the same session.

    2. email attachments - there is an option in Messaging to storage attachments within email on to your storage card.

Other things you can delete or clear: browser's cache, that's done from within your browser's options

Please do not send your questions or problems to me using Private Messages function. Post them in the appropriate board in the forum so everyone can read. If you "pm" me with an issue you are experiencing, I'll delete without reply.

Also check this thread: http://www.htcforums.com/threads/343...ce-memory-full. I have a cab file posted in there: Install it to your device & it will save you some memory problems. This cab will work on All Windows devices with a memory card.

Hi Mesquire, I did move the UAContent and Templents, maybe this is why I'm unable to send, receive or even access any email and text. I put it back in the system folder, the only change is the messaging icon on my start menu.

Hi Ednap, instead of deleting the program icons I searched for the uninstall feature and found it. I deleted skyfire, kinoma and a couple others.

Hi HumbleHippie, I installed your .cab program and I'm also going to install the cleanRam program.

Thank you all for your advice.

It now appears my current problem is my messaging delima. Is there a way of resetting everything back to factory setting? Maybe to Win6.1? The only program I want to backup is pdanet and ms.pacman. If I save these programs to my storage card will I be able to use them again?

You can always perform a hard reset; This will reset the system to the original ROM settings. If you want a different ROM version; you will need to reflash the device with a new ROM. You can find HTC official ROMs at www.htc.com. You can also find custom ROMs at forum.xda-developers.com, under the Vogue's ROM threads. Be sure to read everything about custom ROMs before installing one. You must have HardSPL flashed to your device before instaling a custom ROM!
