    Default Antivirus?

    Hey fellahs,

With all the programs we download off the net, websurfing, email attachments etc etc... with out PPC Touch, what of viruses? I don't see any kind of antivirus program running. Is there one? There must be, running silently in the background, eh?

Thats a good question. I'll do some digging around. I have never heard of a phone getting a virus but i'm sure it can happen.

i actually even had a Nokia phone in our company which was affected by a mobile virus, it started spreading itself over bluetooth and the phone started sending ramdom SMS messages, it can really drive your bill up. So i think mobile antivirus scanners will be something which we all need in the near future...

A friend of mine also once told me of a virus he got on a Nokia phone through bluetooth

I think the vulnerability is there but it's less common, maybe we will see viruses increase as pocket pc's become more and more used

I'v searched for mobile viruses trying to find them and mostly got old articles. It sounds like most of them are trying to warn people of some kind of future epidemic where are the mobile devices are attacked by viruses.

I don't have anything important in my phone so I'm not to worried. If I did or if it because common to get viruses on your phone I would get some protection. There are a ton of windows mobile 6 anti virus programs out there.

Might I suggest Spybot Mobile? [Mobile Link] A bit like bringing an RPG to go deer hunting, but it scans the entire phone on-demand.

    Hi
But there are companies like symantec (Norton) promoting the Mobile Security products like "Norton Smartphone Security" & "Symantec Mobile AntiVirus for Windows Mobile " etc..

the real need is still unknown and I am confused and rather afraid of turining mu Bluetooth connectivity and GRPRS activation from my Service provider..

Any suggestions that one should go for such software ownership?

in my opinion having protection on your phone wont hurt but how often are you on the internet. what websites are you goin cause thats the main reason behind the viruses and what are you downloading from it. i really dont use the internet on my phone so theres no need for me to get it, for those who use it a lot should know you cant just go on every website and definitely watch your email. it the same logic on your home pc, people with these phone are adults, only kids go on every site and download things and not know any better. its still good to know it available cause you never know i mite get a virus out of nowhere and i barely use it and i mean barely, so it all depends on your usage
