    Nope.

    For the digital compas to work the device needs additional hardware not just a GPS.

    While there is not, in the technical sense a compass in the Diamond 2/Pure phone, the GPS can display a compass rose, and indicate the direction of travel, but you MUST move in a direction to get an indication. Not strictly a compass, but effective in determining what direction you are going.
