Brand variations excepted, your Diamond2 may come with an app called MP3 Trimmer from HTC. Load your music files, trim as desired - 30 seconds max, save the edited by giving it a new name (the default is RT_your media original filename.mp3), then choose your ringtone as usual. New ringtones are filed in My Device > My Documents > My Ringtones
If you want to trim your MP3 on your computer for higher accuracy: http://www.mptrim.com/
then transfer to your device by placing them at this location:
My Device > Application data > Sounds (if you also want to use your own for sounds and notifications, except alarms)
My Device > My Documents > Ringtones (if you only want ringtones)
Other acceptable locations:
My Device > My Documents
My Device > Windows > Rings
My Device > Storage Card
My Device > Storage Card > My Documents
My Device > Storage Card > My Documents > Ringtones
There is no significant difference by storing your ringtones on your memory card, but when your device is connected to computer and is in Disk Drive mode, the device loses access to those ringtones and defaults back to Windows Mobile default ringtone.
Please do not send your questions or problems to me using Private Messages function. Post them in the appropriate board in the forum so everyone can read. If you "pm" me with an issue you are experiencing, I'll delete without reply.
