Hardware Keyboard
Hi
I just start using my mom's old phone, which is a HTC HD2. It has that slide out keyboard. I've tried using it, but I can only write the numbers or the first letters in the keys which have no numbers. She never used the keyboard, and I don't know if it is disabled or somethin... Can anyone please try to explain me what I have to do?

First off: you need to find out what device you are using. It is not an HD2 because the HD series do not have an HIP {Hardware Input Panel/Hardware keyboard}; they are SIP {Software Input Panel/On-screen keyboard} only.
As far as not being able to use the keyboard proper; try reading the manual. I believe your problem is that you have the number lock activated. This is the reason that the #s are entered instead of the letters. If the keyboard were disabled; you would not be able to enter anything by using the HIP.I'm Lost; I've Gone To Find Myself. Sorry, it's a Touch Dual.
I can't find any settings concerning NumLock...
In any case, how can i find out if the keyboard is blocked?

As I already stated; Your keyboard is not blocked. If it were disabled then you would not be able to use it at all. Since you stated that it is usable; then it isn't blocked. The problem is that you have not read the manual. Go to http://member.america.htc.com/downlo...ish_Manual.pdf & start on page 50! This will tell you everything that you need to know about using your device's keyboard.

on page 53 it talks about the numeric lock... "Numeric mode". It tells you how to enable the numeric mode, & this is the same method used to disable it as well. Hold the */XT9/Sym button to change the layout.
Sorry, I can't walk you thru it step by step because I don't have a Touch dual to play with. I have only used a couple devices which had HIPs {Wing & iPaq}, but they were full qwerty keyboards & had a different layout. Personally I hate hardware keyboards because they are pointless; it's just extra hardware that isn't needed. I found that the on screen keyboards are easier to access & use {at least for me}.I'm Lost; I've Gone To Find Myself. If I Return Before I Get Back; Please Ask Me To Wait.

It doesn't make any difference; it still writes only numbers...
But Tks anyway!
The screen keyboard works just fine, but i can't use it when i'm walking, for instance, cause i can't feel the keys. That's why i wanted to be able to use the hardware one...

Are you at least able to change the input mode of the HIP? If so; does this problem occur on every mode? If so; I would try a Hard reset & see if that solves it. If not then I would try reinstalling the ROM. If neither of these fix the issue then your keyboard is probably defective. In which case you would need to contact your service provider or HTC for repairs.
*Note: Hard reset & installing a fresh ROM will cause you to lose everything that is saved to the device. Perform a backup before trying these methods. The best way to back up a device is to make two seperate backups. One backup should be the PIM only {Contacts, email, SMS, etc...}. The other should be a full backup that includes all programs & changes made to the system. If the problem you are experiencing is because of a change made to the system then restoring a full backup will recreate the issue. That is why I recommend seperate backups. this way if restoring the full backup causes the problem to resurface; then you can always just restore the PIM & reinstall the software seperately.
Sorry, but these are the only suggestions that I can give. Maybe someone who has had this issue can chime in some better advice. I am going to move this to the Touch Dual section so it will be seen more easily by other Dual users.I'm Lost; I've Gone To Find Myself. If I Return Before I Get Back; Please Ask Me To Wait.
