Default Help Needed for new HTC Touch User

    Hi,

Just new to the whole Pocket PC scene!Just looking for some advise from some experts about what updates i could do to optimize the performance of phone and anything else that people could suggest.

Oh yeah what is ROM exactly, in lamins terms and by changing it what does it do?

My phone details are as follows,

    Bought in Singapore

    HTC Touch ELF 0100
    Ram 128
    Flash 256
    Speed 201 MHZ

    Rom Version 2.20.707.1B WWE
    Rom Date 10/02/07
    Radio Version 03.07.90
    Protocol Version 4.1.13.51
    ExtRom Version 2.20.707.101

IS everything i have on this phone up-to-date?
    What can i update?

Can you point in the right direction for Updates and instructions on how to update?
Can you ruin your phone by updating it?

Unless you really know what you are doing, I would not suggest messing with your ROM.

Your ROM is simply the version of the Windows Mobile OS that is running your phone. The numbers you have, indicate that you have the latest version. HTC typically released 2-3 ROM upgrades through the life cycle of their devices. I would suggest heading over to HTC.com to register your device and they will keep you updated on any new official downloads you may need. HTC has released ROM upgrades for the Touch which fixed camera issues and also radio issues.

HTC will be rolling out Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM upgrades to many of their devices later this summer, but it's still unclear if the Touch will be getting Windows Mobile 6.1. The main reason I suggest not going near any unofficial ROM upgrades for your device is because you can easily brick you Touch and most likely it will not be covered under your warranty.
