Thread: Install a microsd card and bug windows update !

I just bought a HTC P4351 and I have a micro sd card. But when I put it inside the slot designed for, nothing happens. It's a proper sd card and it's brand new.

How can I install it please ? Thank you.


And I have some problems with Windows Update when I want update it it says that there was an unexpected error. How to fix it please ?

As concerns the SD card: Nothing happens? If the device is turned off & you insert the card, does the device turn on? If it doesn't, then you have a faulty card slot. If it does turn on, then your card slot is recognizing the card, it just isn't giving you access to it. Are you sure the card is formatted? Are you sure that the drivers are installed? If you are using a Custom ROM, try installing a factory ROM & see if the problem continues.
As concerns Update: It doesn't work on ANY device. From what I can figure, MS does not support update for the mobile systems. I have never had a device that was capable of using the Win update program that's installed. Something about the network not being setup...?! I don't believe that MS has any intentions of getting the mobile update server up & running. People have been bitching about this same problem for many years, & MS has done nothing to remedy it. All update & hotfixes are found on HTC's website.

For windows update they suck

Using file explorer, look at the windows directory on the device. There should be a SDHC.DLL file. If it is there then the drivers are already installed. Do you have an official or custom ROM installed? I am not sure exactly where to get the drivers, but you can find it with google. All ROMs should have the drivers already installed. I would try flashing an official ROM to the device & see if that clears it.

I would recommend you try updating, or reinstalling the ROM. You can get the Official HTC ROMs at HTC.com. There are CDMA & GSM versions of the touch. Be sure to flash the proper ROM!! If you flash a CDMA ROM to a GSM device, you will Brick it! Same goes for GSM ROMs on a CDMA device. Make sure that you choose the page for your appropriate device.

Thanks but if I reinstall the rom will it remove all my programs and contacts ? and how do I remove the previous rom ? thanks

Yes flashing a new ROM will cause you to lose everything that you installed. That is why you use a backup program to backup the system so you can restore everything more easily. You can also sync your contacts with your PC {Which you should do anyway, just in case the inevitible happens}.
The ROM that is currently on the device is removed by the update process. When you run the update program, it will scan the device yo make sure that the device is compatible. If all is copesetic, the update program will then place the device in bootloader mode, wipe the OS & reinstall the new OS. You don't hae to do anything other then backup your info, & Run a program. Make sure the battery is fully charged before starting the ROM update procedure.
