The technical name of the model is Elf. The Elfin is an enhanced version of the Elf. The easiest way to tell which version you have is to look at the device memory. The Elfin has double the memory of the Elf. A standard Elf has 64MB RAM & a 128MB ROM, whereas the Elfin has 128MB RAM & 256MB ROM. You can see the differances here:

As concerns which ROM is best, that answer is entirely up to you. Everyone has different tastes, & view ROMs differently. There you will finds thousands of ROMs with reviews on each of them. be sure to read the Sticky posts about flashing before attempting any of the ROMs. you must flash HardSPL before you can flash a custom ROM.
