Thread: soft and hard reset

If you don't know how it do a soft or hard reset it can be confusing, since lots of installs and updates require one

A soft reset on the Touch simply restarts the device. To perform one just take your stylus out and poke the circle on the bottom of the Touch, it will restart

A hard reset on the Touch restores it to out-of-box status (removes all contacts, programs, settings, etc.). To do a hard reset hold the send and end keys (green and red hard buttons) and then poke the circle on the bottom with the stylus

similar problem my htc touch elf is stuck on windows boot up screen...ive tried soft reset and hard reset doesnt work at all...i did not try to flash it or anything the screen froze and i soft reset it then it just got stuck here...the blue light blinksalmost every second but thats all of the responses i get

so temme exactly how to do a soft or hard reset nd wen do u need to do it??? wen u install a software or a game..??

Additional,

To perform a full factory restore, hold the phone buttons (red and green) when the device is off. While holding these buttons, press power on. A screen appears to confirm the deletion off all the data on the phone. Press the action (middle) button to confirm.

I tried doing this to my Hermes 100 and no luck - it gives a message press R to reboot (will erase data etc) - I did it but the screen comes on with 4 color bars and a message saying

IPL 1.01
SPL 1.06

And that is it

You can follow this steps for hard reset you can turn off the phone than Hold both right and left buttons (the ones right under the screen) than press power button, while still holding the others,than switch on your phone.
