Thread: New WM6.1 ROM for elfin

Anyone knows when HTC will launch an updated WM6.1 ROM version for HTC touch Elfin?
Almost all the HTC Touch phones are with an update to WM6.1.

Well, obviously HTC are yet to release a WM6.1 ROM for Europe and the wait is taking a bit longer than normal... The real problem is that the old ROM they had on their website (for Europe) can no longer be obtained... which pretty much leaves us empty-handed. Take me for example, I had an issue with my Elfin (display wouldn't come out of sleep mode, even though the phone was working), so I sent it to get serviced. Got my phone back a few days later and all that had been done was a hard reset when I had insisted on a hardware check-up. Well, anyway, turns out that the problem WAS indeed a software-related issue and I could have solved it myself - but nevertheless the service guys had already done what you'd expect from them - flash the phone to its default ROM, which was: a) old as hell, b) problem-ridden and needing a LOT of hotfixes; c) NOT automatically compatible with my supplier, since they don't bother to customize ROMs for their network.

So I was at a loss, receiving a phone with much more problems than the phone I had left for servicing. So I started looking hard and thought, what the hell, I'll be flashing a new ROM, I might as well look for a 6.1. It's hard to find, they say... But actually, it all depends on where you're looking. There _ARE_ WM6.1 ROMs uploaded for HTC Touch GSM on the official HTC site; however there's a huge difference in the files available at the download section depending on which area it is you've logged in from. So I suggest that you give it a shot and try different areas. Of course, there's also the issue of being unable to download a ROM unless the system approves it as the "correct" ROM for you according to your S/N. But if you look and try a bit harder, there is a way to download and install an "official" 6.1 ROM with Manilla 2D; I personally am running one now and I must say I'm quite happy with it. Just make sure that when you get your hands on the ROM you want, it fits your model, so that you don't brick your device.

The thing is that I really want to get a try to wm 6.1 but not sure if flashing my TOUCH with a version found on the net is a good thing. For now, mine is working fine, and meeting all my expectations (well, as far as it can)
So my questions are:
1. Should I try the new one or not? (does it worth the risk and getting a brick at the end!)
2. Are the operations tricky or quiet easy?
3. Is there a link to the step to follow.

PLz Can Some 1 tell me. When HTC Touch P3452 Upgrade ROM 6.1 Or 6.5(Official) Are available.If Available Plz Show me Link where i download. Bcoz I download Some rom from forumxdadevelopers.com. My set is upgrade but it show some problem. And i again Install Another ROM and again a big Problem with Phone.My phone Flash Rom was dead. So PLz tell me How to install Rom properly on phone.

WM 6.1 Rocks 8-) . But the problem is that after installing it, I have not been able to use Active Sync. Ihave downloaded the latest version of Active Sync but nothing helped. Can SUMONE ANYONE plz, plz, plzzz help me out !!!!!!!!!!!! :cry:

check ur mini usb connector or cable ,the active sync version must be 4.5.n ur computer usb must support usb2.0 standard,go to settings connections ,usb to pc set it active sync mode n enable faster data syncronization ,check this all u will be able to connect,

i am plannin to upgrade my htc touch p3452
i just have some doubts....
1.will i get the preloaded htc touch apps like the audio manager (using the link given above)
2.if by chace something goes wrong ,will i able to retrieve my phone from faulty software installation?

can u also pls send me the required steps for the software uprade....
