Wi-Fi Won't Turn On
My HTC HD has WIFI Problem:
In Communications Tab, WiFi will not turn on most of the time.
It worked for 1 week then problem started happening.
After trying many different fixes I was able to get it working again (only for 3 days) by cold resetting twice then setting the wifi power usage to Medium (in settings/wifi/advanced).
I Hard Reset the device and it worked well for 2 days but....
After a few days I started to get error message “device.exe’ problem.
Wifi would not connect (even after several resets).
I have removed battery overnight then it worked again but only for 1 hour before error message reappeared and problem reoccurred.
Now I have Hard reset the device twice and the “device.exe’ on 1st start up appears after install every time.
I Purchased the device on 20 Nov from handtec.co.uk and had to pay a lot of money for freight and Import duty etc.
I am very disappointed and do not want to incur the cost of sending it back to the UK (from Australia).
Anybody know what should I do to fix it?

Re: Wi-Fi Won't Turn On
I've got the same problem. Haven't resetted it yet but from first day on it operates perfectly except the fact wifi can't be turn on. I've got unlimited 3G acces so maybe that has got some influence but I'd like to have internet acces by normal wifi too.
Will try to reset the device as soon as possible hoping it will make it to start working again...
All help is welcome!

Re: Wi-Fi Won't Turn On
One work around to get it working some of the time, is to go to settings/connections/wifi/advanced/power mode and put it in the middle (or on Best Performance). But is still only turns on some of the time and uses more power.
It doesn't matter how many times you hard reset - I've done it at least 10 times. I've even done it with the SD card and SIM card removed to no avail (so it's not a 3G compatibility problem).
I've contacted HTC about it and they refferred me to tech support in my own country (Which doesn't even sell HDs officially yet). They want me to send it back for a replacement or repairs. AAAHHHH
I just wish they would give me a link to a more recent bios version so I could try that befre returning it.
PS. As this is the official HTC Forum, wouldn't it be great if a HTC tech actually read these posts and offered help, as other manufacturer's forum moderators do.

Re: Wi-Fi Won't Turn On
I've resetted my phone, adjusted the power usage but nothing helpt. By the way, wifi has never worked one sec on my phone.. Just didn't turn on at all from the verry beginning. But anyway, first contacted HTC Netherlands ( I live there you know:P) and after they got some info of my phone and myself, the women (?!
) told me to go to the comm manager to put it on. Well that abviously didn't work. After that, she discussed the matter with her boss and told me I should get a new phone by the company who sold it me, Vodafone in my case. So I've just called them and they were okay with the information I told them and I'm getting a new one. Luckily no repairs or something cause that would take weeks, now they will swap phones, as easy as that.... .(I hope).
And also in your case, you don't want to send your phone back but it could be a production fault, so it won't ever work.... Think you should go for your garantee..
I'm pretty disappointed in HTC now, but I hope Vodafone and HTC will deliver me soon a fully working HTC Touch HD, that would make me almost forget this crap
For the ones with the same problem not the message you were hoping for but at least you've got a pretty sollid conclusion.
p.s. I've also send an email yesterday to custumer support of htc and still waiting for their reaction. If that will get us some extra information I will let you know.
