    Default Backup and Restore?

    Hi,

I have just bought a TOUCH HD and it seems as if there is no backup or restore facility?!! I know this cannot possibly be the case and I must be unaware of how it's done on this version of ActiveSync.

My previous device was an XDAII and the backup/restore procedure was very simple....

    Thanks.

surely people must back up their devices..... and I'm not just talking about contacts, appointments, and email through outlook. I need to back up the whole system with settings, 3rd party apps, etc.

Like I said, the previous ActiveSync had this option in the "Tools" menu, but this new version doesn't!

    Doesn't anyone find this strange?

Or am I missing something which is so obvious that nobody can be bothered to reply.....

The package should contain a CD which includes a tool called "Sprite Backup".

Did you install Sprite Backup to your device?

No it didn't come with sprite backup!

Is it free? Can I download it separately?

Or should I get SPB backup?

    I also have a HD.

I used to use Sprite Backup but after some problems I made the switch to SPB Backup.

Neither are freeware but in my opinion SPB Backup is the better of the two.

A good backup program is very handy if you are a reagular installer of different applications or if the information you save on your device is very important to you.

You can download and install a trial to make sure you are happy with it before parting with any money

    Available from here http://spbsoftware.com/pocketpc-software/backup/
My current device is a HTC Touch HD

    Hi AJS,

I faced the same issue when i start Using this device but i found one wonderful application which works gr8 on my HD. Its allows me to take the message backup, call log backup, contact backup, email backup and many more... I really love this application and best part is u can set the timer for backup so automatic this application will take the backup on every day, week basis and it save a small KB file on ur selected location which u can past in your system also so you won't lost any backup in case u unknowingly format your HD.

    Here is the application

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S8T34BN6

best part is its free of cost.

You need to just move this exe file in your HD (i prefer memory card) and then just run it in ur device tats it.
