Thread: microsd fails to be available on htc

salut folks!

i have an htc hd t8282 and microsd 8gb sized.

(that's somehow strange for a programmer to witness a 8gb fat32 disk, but if htc managed to do that, that's ok... if it would not be so bad)


the problem is that HTC HD regularly fails to see this memory as if there would no memory sticks stuck in.
sometimes it shows memory stick in explorer, but displays it as empty.
sometimes it happens even when i listen to music via mp3 player.

when memory fails, HTC explorer sometimes sees this structure on the stick:
folder \Inbox.mst29980925.3761171200 with empty folder Mail Attachments

the problem could be temporarily resolved by extracting memory stick and inserting it back again.
but it's not a real solution

the question is: what is that and how should i fix it?

Transcend
MicroSD (with stylised "6" within "C")

Mine works just fine. May be problem with this card itself?

btw, do developers actually read their forums?

SanDisk is agood brand and very compatible with HD.

yea mine came with a sandisk 8gb card.

i had a eten x650 before and it wouldnt read certain brands. i stuck an a-data 4gb card in it and it never read it. but when i stuck a sandisk 4gb card in it, it worked flawlessly

this is forum an actual htc forum made by htc? sorry im a newb, i dunno these things.

Have you upgraded your ROM from 1.14 to SPL 1.56 recently? If though , this might be the problem.

I am on another forum where more and more people experience problems with the SD Card. It doesn't matter which size or brand it is, if you format it through windows or a "propper" SD formatter program, the memory card keeps disappearing.

It seems like a bug within the new 1.56 / ROM / driver problem.

I am now 2 weeks without my phone as I sent it in for repair as I have also already flashed it back and forth... when reverting to old 1.14 everything works fine again.


I hope that this will be fixed asap and someone from HTC is reading these forums as I think a professional device like the HTC TOUCH HD and it's owners should deserve immediate attention & solution.

I have Sandisk 8GB card, same problems, card disappears when used at high speed like thumbnails generation on DCIM or scanning for music. The card actually disappears when I try to read certain files, one jpeg picture, one .dll of one program, etc. It can read everything else but when i open/copy those files, card goes away.

I was almost sure that the new ROM is guilty but I tried to read the card with an external card reader and it has the same problems. I replaced the Sandisk 8GB with another 2GB card and it works without any problem. I'll ask for a replacement for the Sandisk 8GB SD card that came with the phone.

PS: if you have the same problems, try to make a backup now, the problem will appear more & more often, I lost some files forever.

I installed the ROM today and also have to problem of my HD not 'seeing' the memory card anymore. You mentioned that reverting back to 1.14 fixes the problem. My question is, how do I go back to that? I did a hard reset, but it seems I'm still stuck with the ROM as the memory card problem remains.

I have the same problem with my Desire. Had the device for a few weeks now and the problem of not registering the SD card had come up twice now.
It's not a big deal, but a bit annoying that it happens at all.
I'm using the SD card that was supplied with the device, so it should not have issues, if it does HTC should replace it.

Just to report another SD card disappearance with the 1.56 ROM... Very, very annoying, especially when you have an expensive software starting from your card (like navigation software; whenever iGO starts the card "disappears" during the "MAIN INIT" process and I cannot use it anymore), or when the G-Alarm fires an alarm event and should start playing a playlist located at the SD card...

I hope the genius team from HTC will spend some time in solving this bug as it is really annoying.

Device is HTC Touch HD.
